The 4th graders have been enjoying exploring different styles of poetry as part of our reading program.  Some of their favorites have included limericks, form or shape poems, and haiku.  While it can be a challenge to make your ideas fit the carefully structured lines of haiku, the students counted syllables and used vocabulary to successfully communicate feelings and settings with word and color.

OPtical Illusion Art Work

OPtical Illusion Art Work

Our favorite art project this month corresponded well with our school's Hoop-a-thon fund raising activity.  As our optical illusion drawings took shape, the circles that seemed to become almost three dimensional reminded us of basketballs.  While we practiced using line, shape, and complementary colors in this project, we were reminded of the verse that assures us that whether in sports or art or all of our lives, "we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us."
